Prayer Meetings

The Baha'i teachings prescribe daily prayer and intimate communion with God as the foundation for a life devoted to spiritual advancement and service to humanity.

"Intone, O My servant, the verses of God that have been received by thee, as intoned by them who have drawn nigh unto Him, that the sweetness of thy melody may kindle thine own soul, and attract the hearts of all men." — Baha'u'llah

In addition to practicing private prayer and meditation, Baha'is gather in their homes and communities for collective worship. Devotional gatherings are scheduled regularly to share a devotional spirit of joy, love and fellowship. Readings are taken from the Baha'i writings and the scriptures of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism and Buddhism. Participants are encouraged to bring their prayer books or favorite passages from the scriptures to share. These gatherings often offer prayers for healing or assistance to those in need. Musical selections are diverse, coming from a variety of cultures and styles. There is no established ritual and no solicitation of funds. Light refreshments are often served.

We invite you to join us. Weekly devotional gatherings are held at the Milwaukee Baha'i Center on Sunday mornings. There are also a number of neighborhood devotional gatherings - please contact us for details.

Milwaukee: Every Sunday Morning - The Sunday program at the Milwaukee
Bahá'í Center starts at 10 am with group singing and devotions followed by classes for all age groups. Refreshments and fellowship follow the clasees. The Milwaukee Bahá'í Center is located at 2526 West Vliet Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53205. The information phone line for the center is (414) 342-7636. Milwaukee: 2nd Friday Evening of the Month - 7 pm at the home of Kia Saeian and Angeline Widmer. The devotional meeting is followed by games and light refreshments. For more information, call Kia and Angeline at (414) 264-7399.

Racine: Every Thursday Evening - 7 pm at the Regional Bahá'í Council

Waukesha County: Every Sunday Morning in Fall and Spring - The Dawning Place Bahá'í School takes place at the Brandy Brook Community Center, S11 W29980 Summit Avenue (US Highway 18), in Delafield. The program starts at 10 am and includes classes for various ages of children as well as adults. Music, devotions and community announcements follow.
